Week 14: Final Rankings (September 9, 2011)
The Minnesota Lynx have held the top spot in the rankings for 10 of the 13 editions (remember, no rankings for All-Star week) of the power rankings, including the final seven weeks. The Lynx have established themselves as the top team in the league this season. Can they do it during the Playoffs as well?
Week 13: Shooting for Threes (September 2, 2011)
In honor of the three-day holiday weekend, the Power Rankings have a theme of three for this week, as we try to find the best three words to describe each team's plight in the season's final 10 days.
Week 12: The Home Stretch (August 26, 2011)
With three weeks left in the regular season, the top two spots remaining the same, but there's some heavy jostling going on everywhere else -- including the rise of the Storm and Sparks with the returns of Lauren Jackson and Candace Parker.
Week 11: Sweet Dream (August 19, 2011)
There's plenty to smile about for the Atlanta Dream these days. However, this was not the case earlier this year when they dug themselves a hole nearly too deep to climb out of. Winners of 10 of their last 13, the Dream finally resemble the team that made the Finals last year and thus make a significant leap in the latest WNBA.com Power Rankings.
Week 10: Lynx, Fever Entrenched at the Top (August 12, 2011)
For the third straight week the top two spots and the bottom two spots remain the same in the Power Rankings. It's the spots in between that continue to fluctuate, much like the daily standings. With three teams - Phoenix, San Antonio and Seattle - separated by just a half game in the West and Connecticut and New York by just one game apart in the East, the middle of the rankings is up for much debate.
Week 9: Red-Hot Lynx Still Setting Pace (August 4, 2011)
The top two, you probably could have guessed. But from there, things get a little murkier. In the East, the Sun are making their case for a run at the top, while in the West, three teams are playing a game of Boggle for second. That trio – the Silver Stars, Mercury and Storm – all have 11 wins, with San Antonio taking a slight edge in the standings because it also only has seven losses, compared to eight for the other two.
Week 8: Lynx Check in at No. 1 (July 29, 2011)
The Power Rankings return from a one-week hiatus due to the 2011 WNBA All-Star Game. And there are some changes to report, most notably the Minnesota Lynx and the Atlanta Dream, teams currently riding the league's longest winning streaks of four and five games, respectively. Let's see how it all shakes out this week.
Week 7: All-Star Break (July 22, 2011)
Week 6: The Phoenix is Rising ... Fast (July 15, 2011)
The Indiana Fever hold on to the No. 1 spot as they extend their win streak to seven games with a pair of W's over the last week. But the Phoenix Mercury are hot on their heels, winning five games in a row to climb to the top of the Western Conference standings. Speaking of streaks, don't forget about the Liberty, who have rattled off four in a row as well.
Week 5: Indiana Claims No. 1 (July 8, 2011)
The Indiana Fever takes the No. 1 spot thanks to a five-game win streak and an overall record of 8-3. San Antonio remains in striking distance though as they look to make a strong home stand against New York, Los Angeles and Seattle over the next week of play.
Week 4: San Antonio Steals the Top Spot (July 1, 2011)
After a few short weeks of staying within the hunt for the No. 1 spot, the San Antonio Silver Stars take the jump in Week 4 Power Rankings.
Week 3: Sparks on the Move (June 24, 2011)
Two straight wins for Phoenix and three in a row for the Sparks has both teams on the up-and-up. Meanwhile, Tulsa and Washington remain on the lookout for a few more wins.
Week 2: San Antonio Gaining Ground in Week 2 (June 17, 2011)
The first week of play allowed for the power rankings to take shape, but the second week provides teams a chance to gain some ground. However you may notice right from the start that Minnesota has not moved from the No. 1 spot. As you'll soon read that wasn't due the result of good or bad performances this past week. They simply didn't play a game since the last installment of power rankings.
Week 1: Lynx Take Top Spot in Power Rankings Debut (June 10, 2011)
After posting a 3-1 record over the first four games, the Minnesota Lynx take the No. 1 spot in the 2011 season's debut of power rankings. Similar to the first installment of Race to the MVP, there is a limited field of games to pull from for some teams, but here is a look at how teams stack up in the early stages of the season.
