Former WNBA Vice President of Team Business Development Kristin Bernert Joins Sparks as President
Los Angeles Sparks co-owners Kathy Goodman and Carla Christofferson have hired Kristin Bernert as President of the Los Angeles Sparks. Bernert, with over 10 years of sports business experience, has spent the last three years as Vice President of Team Business Development with the WNBA. As President, she will be responsible for managing and developing all aspects of business and basketball operations. “We are incredibly pleased to have Kristin join our staff as President of Gemini Basketball. We believe that with her guidance, leadership and experience, the Sparks organization will set the standard for WNBA team operations,” said Sparks co-owners Kathy Goodman and Carla Christofferson. Bernert brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Sparks. As Vice President of Team Business Development with the WNBA, she was responsible for driving growth in all areas of team business for all 14 WNBA teams. She was also in charge of facilitating the development and execution of league events and integrated initiatives. Prior to joining the WNBA league office, she served as the Vice President of Business Operations for the Detroit Shock from 2002-2005. There, she managed all aspects of Shock business, including ticket sales, marketing, corporate sponsorship, community relations, public relations and event operations. “We are very excited to have Kristin joining our team. She has experience at both the team and the League level, and it allows her to bring a wealth of knowledge to our front office. In addition, she shares our vision of the WNBA and our commitment to the Los Angeles community. We look forward to having her work with us to bring the fans an even better experience,” said Christofferson. The Stow, Ohio native has also worked with the Cleveland Indians and the athletic departments at The Ohio State University and Bowling Green State University.
